Matin Abbasi was a 19-year-old resident of Sabashahr, Shahriar, who lost his life during the revolutionary protests in January 2026. On the night of January 8, he was reportedly struck by birdshot, yet he returned to the streets the following day, January 9, to protest alongside his mother and other family members. While on Tajik Boulevard in Sabashahr, he was targeted from behind by security forces and shot twice with live ammunition. The bullets struck Matin in his side and near his heart. Following the shooting, he was transported by a pickup truck to three different hospitals, all of which reportedly refused to admit him for treatment. He was eventually taken to a clinic, where he succumbed to his injuries on January 14, 2026. His family was notified of his passing by the clinic that same day.
